Cab-Stand in Russell Spare.
In the month of April last, the Chief Commissioner of Police
established a Hackney Carriage Stand in the south-west corner of
Russell Square. Applications were made by the residents to this
Board to take measures to have the same removed. The Board
accordingly applied to the Chief Commissionerof Police, who complied
with the Board's request.
Death of the late Clerk to the Board.
The Board has in the past year sustained by the death of its
clerk, the late Mr. Robert Finnis, the loss of a highly valued
officer. Mr. Finnis held the appointment of Clerk to the Board
from its creation, upwards of eighteen years, and his legal knowledge,
long experience and courteous manners were highly esteemed
by every Member of the Board, and the Parishioners generally.
