appreciable. The decision of the Magistrates that retained the cowhouses
seems to have been construed by most of their proprietors into an assertion
of their right to continue -the nuisance of their establishments unmolested.
One at least of the sheds is actually in a worse state than before the recent
regulations were issued. This defiance of authority appears another argument
for suppressing, instead of attempting to regulate, the nuisance of cow-houses
in St. Giles's.
