Of the above number:—65 were tramps who were sent
to the hospital on the clay on which they were received at
the workhouse: 10 were tramps who were sent between
1 and 4 days (inclusive) after being received there: 7 were
persons who had been in the workhouse from 8 to 10 days
before they showed signs of illness, of whom some were
tramps, some parishioners, but who probably all contracted
the disease in the workhouse: 12 were inmates of the
workhouse, who certainly contracted the disease therein:
and 4 were patients who had been sent back from the
hospital on the supposition that they were cured, and then
had a relapse. The remaining 6 comprise all the parishioners
who were received into the workhouse with the
disease upon them, and of these only 3 gave their addresses,
8, George Street, 2, Gatton Road, and 1, Acorn Cottages.
