The number of persons indicated in this table are maintained
in homes in all parts of the country. Some are receiving specialised
care because of special needs and others have been admitted because
they have desired to remain in an area in order to be near to their
immediate relatives. It is a problem to find suitable vacancies in
voluntary or other authorities' homes, particularly for physically
handicapped people, who are a special problem, but it is hoped in the
not too distant future to provide a purpose built home, specially
designed, to cater for all types of physically handicapped persons,
within the borough.
