Tetanus
Protection against tetanus is now much in demand and the
great majority of infants are simultaneously immunised against
diphtheria, whooping cough, measles and tetanus. In order to
maintain protection a booster dose is required on commencing
school at the age of five.

Vaccination against Tuberculosis
During the year one school child involving one family was
notified by the Chest Clinic as a positive case.
The scheme for the routine B.C.G. (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin)
vaccination of school children between their thirteenth and fourteenth
birthdays continued during the year under review. Pulmonary tuberculosis
is steadily being brought under control by early diagnosis and rapid and
efficient treatment. The following table summarises the work undertaken:
