Kingston upon Thames Council of Social Service
On the 7th December 1967, a public meeting was called by
the Mayor at the Guildhall, Kingston, to consider the setting up of
a Council for Social Service for the borough and, if agreed that
such a Council be set up, to request the Borough Council to make a
grant towards the administrative expenses.
The Chief Welfare Officer was very pleased to act as the
honorary secretary for the many meetings that followed, culminating
in a Council for Social Service being formed and a paid secretary
eventually being appointed. He took up his duties on the 1st
November 1968, part-time, and will commence full-time duties early
in the new year.
