During the year the centre entertained and received more than
100 visitors, including a number from overseas.
Voluntary Help
The centre was fortunate in receiving a number of gifts of
money, equipment and toys. £100 was donated from St.Mary's Training
College, Twickenham, and at Christmas time the same college presented
a Christmas tree to the centre and also presents for the children.
School children from Bonner Hill and Hollyfield Road have helped
voluntarily and boys from the Latchmere House Detention Centre have
shown an interest in the activities of the training centre.
During the year the centre was adopted by the m/v AKAROA of
the Shaw Savill & Albion Co.Ltd. Collections are made on this ship
and from time to time donations of money are made to the centre by
Captain Larrive. The donations have been put to good purpose by
Mrs.Beilby, supervisor, who has been able to purchase additional
equipment for use by the children.
Residential Care

There are no hostels in the borough for the mentally subnormal, but during the year financial responsibility was accepted for residential care of subnormal patients unable to be cared for at home and not requiring hospital admission, as follows:
