Sonne Dysentery
27 cases occurred during the year, 20 of these and 8
carriers being in an outbreak involving a number of schools in the
borough. The other 7 cases were isolated incidents.
Food Poisoning
It is pleasing to report that no case of food poisoning
occurred during the year. However, there is a continuing need for
constant vigilance in the hygienic handling and preparation of food.
Tuberculosis
There were 35 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and 4 cases
of tuberculosis of other organs (endometrium, kidneys, spine and
kidney and glands of neck). There were 2 deaths from respiratory
tuberculosis both over the age of fifty-five and 1 death under the
age of one year from tuberculosis of other organs.
