ANALYSIS OF MARRIAGES 1968
1,206 marriages were registered in the borough during 1968.
Of these, 468 were Church of England marriages and 738 took place
either in other Churches or in Register Offices.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Changes in the notification of infectious diseases were
made during the year. Certain diseases were notifiable by medical
practitioners to the medical officer of health under Section 144 of
the Public Health Act, 1936 and Regulations made thereunder.
On the 15th June 1968 Infective Jaundice was made notifiable
under the Public Health (infective Jaundice) Regulations 1968.
From the 1st October 1968 other changes were made in the
notification of infectious diseases by the Health Services and Public
Health Act, 1968 Section 47-49, and by the Public Health (infectious
Diseases) Regulations 1968.
