Bacteriological Examination.
Thirty-five samples of various kinds of food were taken
for bacteriological examination in the Public Health Laboratory,
as a routine measure to check on fitness for human consumption.
Six articles with which food comes into contact including
slicing machines and cutlery, were taken during the year to
ensure that satisfactory standards of cleansing were being maintained.
FOOD AND DRUGS ACT . 1955.
The following tabulated statement gives details of 414
samples of foodstuffs submitted to the Council's Public Analyst
to ascertain whether they complied with the Pood and Drugs Act,
1955, Labelling of Pood Order, 1953 and other relevant legislation.
Of these 27 were formal samples and the remainder were samples obtained by informal procedures.
