The position regarding the five children aged under 16 on the
register as at 31st December 1966 is as follows: two are attending special
schools for the blind and partially sighted, one is still in a hospital
for mentally subnormal children and one is at home and unsuitable for
education in school. During the yearone child aged 2 was transferred
into the borough. This child is educable and awaiting admission to
special school.

277 persons (80%) on the blind register are over the age of 60. The age of onset of blindness was as follows:
