CHIROPODY
The Borough Council took over the chiropody arrangements
in operation under the Surrey County Council,, The service assists
elderly persons, expectant mothers and the permanently and substarltially
handicapped.
There are direct and indirect schemes in operation. Under
the direct scheme the patients receive treatment from the chiropodist
of their own choice if approved by the Council.11 Chiropodists were
so approved as at 31st December 1965. The indirect scheme was
operated by the Surrey Association for the Elderly, acting as agents
for the borough.
The following is a summary of the number of persons
treated:
