Pork Pie - It was reported that the article contained a
mature mould growth,, In the ensuing legal proceedings, the
vendors pleaded guilty to selling a pie which was not of the
nature demanded. A fine of £15 and £3.l6.0.costs was imposed.
The frequency with which complaints are made concerning
the sale of pre-packed perishable articles which are stale
suggests that such products should he clearly marked with the
date of manufacture. By this means it would be possible for
the consumer to check whether or not the article is fresh. On
many occasions retailers have been found to be lax in stock
rotation methods for such products.
