SECTION D.
HOUSING
In the furtherance of the Corporation's proposals to
deal with the unfit dwellings in the Borough? during the year
the following action was taken.
Mill Street and Cambridge Grove Road Clearance Order
which involves the demolition of Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6,
Barnyard Cottages and Nos. 1 & 2, Fairview Cottages (demolished
during the year).
Demolition Orders made in respect of the following
19, 21, 27 & 29, Mill Place.
A Closing Order was also made in respect of four rooms at
Wanderings Farm House, Cambridge Road.
Following upon the completion of work to the satisfaction
of the Corporation, the Closing Order which was operative on
No. 9, Hudson Road was revoked.
During the year only two applications were made for
Certificates of Disrepair under the Housing Repairs and Rents
Act, 1954. One Certificate was granted. Works were carried
out at 9 houses and the Certificates of Disrepair were revoked.
The number of Certificates issued in the previous year was 38.
In accordance with Ministry of Health Circular 28/54 the
following information in tabular form as required by Article
31 of the Housing (Consolidated) Regulations is included.
