7. SHOPS AND OFFICES.
Arrangements for the health and comfort of workers
in shops are controlled - by the Shops Act 1934 whilst the
Public Health Act, 1936, brought offices within certain of its
provisions. As opportunity occurred inspections of offices
were made, but pressure of other work and circumstances
generally, prevented any extensive action.
Your Inspectors are responsible also for the
administration of the Shops Acts in relation to closing
hours, and half day closing of shops, and with respect to
holidays and hours of work of shop assistants and young persons.
