(b) (i) Maternal Mortality.
The Medical Officer of Health investigated all maternal
deaths and obtained full reports from the practitioner attending.

There was one maternal death during 1948. The figures for the years 1944 - 1947 are given for comparisons-

(b) (ii) Infant Mortality.
By the Infant Mortality rate is meant the number of deaths
of infants under one year per 1,000 live births in the same
period.
