ł Attendances are recorded, for the purpose of this
Report, from June, 1943, being the date the nurseries
were approved officially as war-time nurseries.
ø Figures for St. Peter's are up to and including 9.6.45
when nursery was closed.
* Kilnwood Nursery admissions were stopped from 7.7.45
to 21.7.45 owing to the prevalence of measles and
whooping cough in the district. Admissions restarted
on 23.7.45.
$ Figures for Fairfield are for 1.1.46 to 31.3.46 when
Nursery was taken over by Surrey County Council us a
nursery school.
It is important to note that, excluding Fairfield
for 1946, and comparing the other four day nurseries, an
increase of 4,061 occupied places was recorded for 1947.
Nursery staff is chosen with special reference to
experience in the handling of children under the age of five
years. The essentials of adequate nutrition have been carefully
watched in the diet of the children.
I gratefully acknowledge the hard work carried out
by all those working in the Nurseries, including voluntary
workers who contributed much valuable assistance.
