INFECTIOUS AND OTHER DISEASES.
The following infectious diseases are notifiable to
the Medical Officer of Health of the Borough:-
Scarlet Fever.
Whooping Cough.
Diphtheria (including membranous croup),,
Measles (excluding Rubella).
Acute Pneumonia (primary or influenzal).
Cerebro-spinal Fever.
Acute Poliomyelitis.
Acute Polioencephalitis,
Acute Encephalitis Lethargica.
Dysentery.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum,
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Smallpox.
Paratyphoid Fevers.
Enteric or Typhoid Fever (excluding Paratyphoid).
Erysipelas.
Malaria.
Cholera.
Plague.
Typhus.
Relapsing Fever.
Tuberculosis.
In 1947 a total of 345 notifications of infectious
disease was received, compared with 466 in 1946.
The following table gives an analysis of the cases
into age groups:-
