Pood and Drugs Act. 1938 (Cont/n.)
War Agricultural Executive Committee, in order that the
farmer might have the benefit of advice from the officers of
that Conmittee.
In the case of the sausages, which were deficient in
meat content, the relative papers were passed to the Pood
Control Committee who instituted legal proceedings against
the vendor. A conviction was obtained and the defendant was
fined.
The label on the drinking chocolate contained a
statement that the contents of the tin included milk solids'.
It was considered that this term should be used only if the
'milk solids' consisted of all the solids normally contained
in whole milk, whereas the milk solids in the sample were
probably derived from skimmed milk The matter was referred
to the appropriate Department of the Ministry of Pood and at
their suggestion was taken up with the Manufacturers. After
prolonged discussion a new label was issued, the writing on
which complied with the requirements of the Labelling of
Pood Order.
