Scarlet Fever.
Thirty-four cases of Scarlet Fever were notified, twentyseven
of whom were of school age. No deaths occurred and no
"return" cases. Twenty-three of the cases notified were
removed to an infectious diseases hospital for treatment,
Diphtheria.
Eight cases of Diphtheria were notified in 1946, two from
Kingston County Hospital and six from within the Borough,
Two of the cases notified occurred in children under one year
of age, four in children of school age, and two in adults. All
eight were removed to hospital for treatment and recovered. Of
the six notified from addresses in the Borough, only two had
been immunized.
Intensive work has been carried out to immunize the school
and pre-school population against diphtheria, and the table on
the following page shows the stage reached by the end of 1946.
