INFECTIOUS AND OTHER DISEASES.
The following infectious diseases are notifiable to
the Medical Officer of Health of the Borough:
Scarlet Fever.
Whooping Cough.
Diphtheria (including membranous croup).
Measles (excluding rubella).
Acute pneumonia (primary or influenza]).
Cerebro-sninal fever.
Acute poliomyelitis.
Acute polioencephalitis.
Acute encephalitis lethargica.
Dysentery.
Ophthalmia neonatorum.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Smallpox.
Paratyphoid fevers.
Enteric or typhoid fever excluding paratyphoid.
Erysipelas.
Malaria.
Cholera.
Plague.
Typhus.
Relapsing fever.
Tuberculosis .
In 1946 a total of 466 notifications of infectious
disease was received. The following table shows how the
cases were dealt with.
