(b ) MEAT AND OTHER FOODS. .
The total number of animals slaughtered in the borough
during 1939 was 2,177, compared with 2,190 for 1933• A further
233 animals were killed by 15th January, 1940, the date upon
which the Livestock (Restriction on Slaughtering) Order, S,R.O,
1940, No <41, became effective. After that date no further
animals were slaughtered in the borough for sale#
The following table, prepared in the form suggested by
the Ministry, shows the number of animals killed, the carcases
inspected and the results of the inspection* It will be noted
that 100^ of the animals slaughtered were examined either at the time of slaughter or before removal of the carcase from the slaughterhouses, and when associated organs were available fb r inspection.
