The following Infectious diseases are notifiable to the
Medical Officer of Health of the Borough:
Scarlet Pever,
''/hooping Cough.
Diphtheria (including membranous croup).
Measles (excluding rubella).
Acute pneumonia (primary or influenzal)
Cerebro-spinal fever.
Acute poliomyelitis.
Acute polioencephalitis.
Acute encephalitis lethargica.
Dysentery.
Ophthalmia neonatorum.
Puerperal pyrexia.
Smallpox.
Paratyphoid fevers.
Enteric or Typhoid fever excluding paratyphoid.
Erysipelas.
Malaria.
Cholera.
Plague.
Typhus fever.
Relapsing fever.
Tuberculosis.

It will be noticed there was an increase in the number
of cases of Scarlet Fever notified during 1943 as compared
with previous years. This was not unexpected and has no
particular significance. All cases are investigated promptly
and any possible sources of infection are followed up.
