(a) Public. A new swimming bath was constructed by
the Corporation and opened in 1937. The bathing accommodation
consists of two pools, both of which are in use
during the summer, and one in the winter months. A
purification and filtration plant is installed.
(b) Private. There are no privately owned swimming
baths or pools open to the public in the Borough, but
facilities for bathing have been provided by a private company
at a bathing station on the banks of the river Thames.
4. Schools.
Information with regard to the sanitary condition and
improvements in the public elementary schools is given each
year in the report of the School Medical Officer.
The recommendations for the prevention of the spread
of infectious disease contained in the Memorandum on
Closure of and Exclusion from School, 1927, have been
closely folowed.
No school closure has been necessary during the year.
Head Teachers are in possession of instructions issued
