A flat rate was charged of 1/- per infant, and 2/6 per
woman for a completed treatment.
Where dentures are supplied, the patient is expected
to contribute to the cost according to her means, the charge
being paid by instalments.
The amount payable for dentures is certified by the
Medical Officer of Health and confirmed by the Committee.
During the year the following work was carried out :—
63 mothers and 57 infants made 366 attendances.

Filling of permanent teeth 24
Filling of temporary teeth 16
Scalings 7
Dentures supplied 14
Anaesthetics given 118
(f) Tonsils and Adenoids.
The scheme is similar to that followed in the School
Medical Service.
The cases are referred by the Medical Officer presiding
at the Welfare Centre to the Medical Officer of Health, who
arranges their admission to the Kingston Victoria Hospital.
The cases remain in Hospital for one night following the
operation.
The Hospital make a charge of 28/6d. per case and
parents are required to contribute towards the cost according
to their means.
Under this scheme one infant received operative treatment
before the end of the year.
The cases are visited by the Health Visitors on their
discharge from Hospital and are later re-inspected by the
Medical Officer of Health.
(ii) Institutional Provision for Mothers or Children.
The care of unmarried mothers and their illegitimate
children is undertaken by the Kingston, Surbiton and District
Voluntary Society, which is affiliated to the Southwark
Diocesan Association for Rescue and Preventive Work.
The Local Branch Shelter is at No. 18, Richmond
Park Road.
