INCREASE OF RENT & MORTGAGE INTEREST
RESTRICTIONS ACTS.
The number of applications for certificates under
Section 2 (2) of the principal Act remains low—there being
three only during 1935. The experience of this Borough
in this matter is not unusual for it appears to be general
throughout the country. For some reason, not at all clear,
tenants do not avail themselves of the opportunities afforded
by the Acts.
In one case only during 1935 a certificate was granted
to the applicants.
The houses referred to in the other applications were
inspected and found to be in reasonable repair.
There were three applications during 1934
INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD.
(a) MILK SUPPLY
During 1935, four names were removed from the
Register of Dairymen owing to business changes. Twelve
fresh entries were added to the Register leaving a total
of 79 at the end of the year compared with 71 at the end
of 1934. In all but one of the additions the milk is sold
in hermetically sealed containers as received on the premises.
The other registration was in respect of a dairyman outside
the Borough but actually he did not commence the sale of
milk in the town.
There is only one cowkeeper in the Borough.
GRADED MILK LICENCES.
There is no licensed producer of graded milk in the
Borough but 27 dealers' licences (including supplementary
licences) were issued during the year.
