pages 26 and 27. 534 dwelling houses were inspected completely
or in part under the Public Health or Housing Acts.
One hundred and sixty houses were surveyed
thoroughly as required by the Housing Consolidated
Regulations 1925, and the details of sttacture, general conditions,
tenancy, ownership, etc., together with a copy of
the informal notice served (if any) in respect of each
house were filed for future reference.
The situation of these 160 houses is as follows :—

The number of houses so dealt with is more than
double that for the previous year. A special effort was
made to deal with the Norbiton area and it will be seen
that Washington Road was completed and Burritt Road
was commenced. The results achieved are plainly visible
to those who care to look around. Washington Road>
composed in the main of cottage property, has taken on a
new lease of life and has a much improved appearance
although all the works are not yet completed. Five of the
houses in the road were found to be beyond repair and were
the subject of demolition orders. Another block of cottages
was considered to be in a similar state, but the owner
