The following list shows the various amounts of foodstuffs
condemned during the year. Where the action taken
is stated to be " inspected and condemned " it is an indication
that the articles referred to were inspected at the
slaughterhouses at the time of killing. In the remaining
cases a request for inspection was made by the owner.
Apart from being a mere record, the list is interesting as
it demonstrates the variety of causes for condemnation.

Amongst those not associated with the work it is quite commonly thought that the only examination made is in order to detect the presence of Tuberculosis, but this is, of course, incorrect.
