The scheme for Orthopaedic treatment of Crippled children
worked smoothly, and in most cases parents paid towards
the cost of out-patient treatment according to their
means.
As regards children admitted to Hospitals under the
scheme, the parents' contributions were very small in spite
of the fact that while a child is in Hospital, a parent is actually
saving the cost of the child's maintenance.
The Eye Clinic was held on alternate Wednesdays during
school terms, eighteen meetings in all being necessary
during the year.
The popularity of the Inspection and Minor Ailments
Clinic was well maintained.
The year may be regarded as a very satisfactory one,
in which steady progress has been made, and the efficiency
of the Service increased.
I thank the Nursing Staff, under the able direction of
Miss R. Bartter, for their willing and loyal support at all
times.
I am,
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your Obedient Servant,
E. W. MATTHEWS,
School Medical Officer.
