Canal Boats Acts, 1877 to 1884.
In accordance with Section 3 of the Canal Boats Act,
1884, I beg to report as follows:—
During the year 1926, four visits and inspections were
made in connection with the Canal Boats Acts. • There do
not appear to be many boats subject to inspection in this
part of the river. The working stages are short and the
crews live ashore instead of on board.
Sanitary Conveniences.
Attention was again given to the conveniences attached
to Refreshment Places during the year. Two urinals were
entirely reconstructed and the structural and sanitary condition
of these places compares very favourably with similar
premises in other towns.
Legal Proceedings.
Legal proceedings were instituted in two instances
during 1926.
In the first c;ise application was made to the Court for
possession of a house in respect of which a Closing Order
had been made. The Court made an Order for possession
and the tenant vacated the property, which was then
demolished.
The second case was that of a Meat Dealer who was
summoned for (1) failing to give notice of disease in a carcase
and (2) removing carcases between the hours of 7 p.m. and
7 a.m. without sanction and before the carcases had been
examined, in contravention of the Meat Regulations, 1924.
The Defendant pleaded guilty and was fined £3 on each
summons and ordered to pay £2 2s. Od. costs.
Conclusion.
I again desire to thank the Chairman and the members
of the Public Health Committee and the Corporation
generally for their kindly consideration and support during
the year.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
HAROLD T. PERRY, A.R.San.I.,
Chief Sanitary Inspector.
Municipal Offices,
Kingston-upon-T hames.
