mains so under these Regulations, which in addition require
every medical practitioner to notify the Medical Officer of
Health of the Local Sanitary Authority of the occurrence cf
a temperature of 100.4 degs. Fahrenheit sustained during a
period of twenty-four hours, or recurring during that period
in a woman within twenty-one days after childbirth or miscarriage.
Also it is provided that the Medical Officer of Health of
the Local Sanitary Authority must, within twenty-four hours
of the receipt of a notification under these Regulations,
forward a copy to the County Medical Officer of Health.
Under these Regulations, Andrew McAllister, M. B.,
B.S.(Lond.), F.R.C.S.(Eng.), was appointed Consultant.
No notifications were received before the end of the
year.
Ophthalmia Neonatorum.
A Health Visitor is instructed to visit immediately upon
notification, and enquire into the circumstances of the case.

The Public Health (Ophthalmia Neonatorum) Regulations,
1926, came into operation on October 1st, 1926.
Under these Regulations the duty of notifying Ophthalmia
Neonatorum is placed solely on the medical practitioner
attending the case.
Also the Medical Officer of Health of a Local Sanitary
Authority must forward a copy of the notification to the
County Medical Officer of Health within twenty-four hours
of its receipt.
Orthopœdic Treatment.
A scheme for the Orthopaedic Treatment of children
under school age at the Kingston, Surbiton, and District
Red Cross Curative Post, Norbiton, was approved by the
Ministry, and put into operation on October 1st, 1926.
The following arrangements were made:—
1. A charge of 2/- per visit for cases requiring massage
and exercises, or electrical treatment and exercises. This
includes examination by the Surgeon, and prints for flat feet.
2. A charge of 3/- per visit for cases requiring any
treatment in addition to those specified in paragraph 1, such
as X-rays, photographs, plasters, splinting, etc., etc.
