IV - INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD SUPPLIES AND PREMISES
3,617 visits were paid to food premises during the year 1960, and 2,834 in 1961 mainly in
connection with the Food Hygiene Regulations. It was necessary to prosecute one Greengrocer in
respect of the dirty condition of his shop and fitments, in respect of which fines of £20 were imposed
and proceedings were also taken against a Butcher for smoking in probited areas of his establishment.
He was fined £25. As a general rule, food premises in the Borough have been satisfactory, but there
are a number of establishments where unless constant supervision is maintained, conditions deteriorate
rapidly.
