CLEAN POOD CAMPAIGN
There is little doubt that the impact of the clean food campaign on shopkeepers and
food handling establishments has resulted in an all round improvement in standards of hygiene
The public are losing that apathy and indifference which, in the past, enabled some food
vendors to carry on their business in inadequate premises with sub- standard equipment and
little effort at hygiene practice at all
It is anticipated that under the Pood & Drugs (Amendment) Act 1954 and the Food and Drugs
Act,, 1955 new Food Hygiene Regulations which will come into force on 1st January 1956 will
so widen the powers of the Council that the Food Hygiene Guild will no longer need to function,
