ALDERSBROOK HOMES AND SCATTERED HOMES,,
The pattern of the Children's Homes is crystallising gradually into
the shape designed by the Children's Committee.
As far as possible, problem children or short-term stay individuals or
siblings are admitted to the reception unit at 80 Aldrsbrook Road. Their
placements in the Nursery or Scattered Homes is made if it becomes obvious
longer care will be necessary.
In general, however, as many children as possible are boarded out with
foster parents.
The care of the children from the medical point of view has presented
no special problems and Dr. Galvin has visited the Nursery and Homes
regularly and as required. With appropriate reliefs she has been on call,
so that a doctor is always available for the attendance on children and
staff In cases of acute illness.

The statistics for the years 1953 to 1954 are appended:ā€”

19531954

3. No. chargeable to East Ham on 31st December141129

as is also the demand for this type of care.
