Of the cases referred for operative treatment, 257 were for the removal
of tonsils and adenoids, one for removal of a polypus in the ear, one for
mastoidectomy, two for eustachian catheterisatlon, and 27 for antrum puncture.

Included In the above statistics, the following relate to cases referred for investigation following failure in speech audiometer tests in school:-

Home Visiting.
Home visits made by health visitors and school nurses during the year
numbered 2,995. These visits were for the purposes detailed in my report
for 1951.
Handicapped Pupils.
90 special examinations were carried out during the year and recommendations
for special educational treatment were made In respect of 1+6
children as follows:-
