(b) The Medical Research Council trials mentioned in my report for
1950 tontlnued during 1951. A total of 368 children (172 boys and 196
girls) volunteered to take part in trials held on 23,2.51 to 1.3.51,
12,6.51 to 18.6.51, and 9.11.51 to 15.11.51j Ninety-one were inoculated
with B.C.G, vaccine, and one hundred were treated as controls.
At each series, those children who had participated in the previous
trials, and who were due to leave school at the end of term, were seen
again. After leaving school, follow-up visits have been paid by Health
Visitors, and each volunteer will be kept under surveillance for three
years.
The trials will continue in 1952.
