Note:- No new nurseries were opened or any nurseries closed, during the
year.

Notes- The Nurseries are closed on Saturdays.
The total attendances at the Nurseries decreased In 1950, as
compared with 1949, by 8,439.
Most of the absenteeism was due to sickness and periods of
quarantine at the various nurseries. Hi is particularly affected School
Road and St. Stephen's Road Nurseries and in practically all cases those
under two years were concerned (see table No. 20) when It will be seen
that the daily average of this group was 61 against 84 for the previous
year.
St. Stephen's Road - outbreak of whooping cough from August to December.
Wall End Road - outbreak of measles from April to June
outbreak of whooping cough from November to December.
School Road - measles and chicken-pox prevalent April to May
whooping cough September to end of year.
Practically every child in the nurseries had one week's holiday away
from the nurseries during the year.
NURSERY AND CHILD-MINDERS REGULATION ACT, 1948.
There were no dally minders provided by the Council at the 31st
December, 1950, and there were no premises or daily minders registered
under the above Act at 31/12/50.
The Authority were not paying any fees to daily minders under
section 22 of the National Health Service Act, 1946, at 31st December,
1950.
