Child Guidance Clinic.
Children in need of advice and treatment are referred, after
investigation at the School Health Clinic, to the Child Guidance
Clinic at East Ham Memorial Hospital. This is held weekly and
attended by medical and other staff at the Runwell Mental
Hospital.
When suitable accommodation becomes available, a clinic will
be established as an integral part of the School Health Service—a
psychiatrist, an educational psychologist, and a social worker will
comprise the team.
Hospital Treatment.
Agreements in accordance with the provisions of Circular 102
are now in force with the following hospitals:—
East Ham Memorial Hospital.
Whipps Cross Hospital.
The Children's Hospital, Balaam Street.
Hospital for Sick Children.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hackney.
King George Hospital, Ilford.
St. Mary's Hospital, Plaistow.
Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford.
A comprehensive service embracing all forms of treatment is
established.
(a) Tonsils and Adenoids.
Operative treatment is carried out chiefly at the following
hospitals, the number of cases dealt with during the year being
indicated:—
East Ham Memorial Hospital 283
Children's Hospital, Balaam Street 590
Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford 45
St. Mary's Hospital, Plaistow 37
(b) Ringworm.
Ringworm of the scalp, in suitable cases, is treated by X-Rays
at the London Hospital. Treatment has been given in seven cases.
