assessment for any child in the new A.B.C. grouping required by
the Ministry of Education.
Gross physical disorders will rarely pass undetected, but
incipient conditions such as anaemia which may have a marked
retarding effect on the whole of a child's school life will require
careful investigation and complete correction.
Lastly the effects of rationing on the heights, weights and
rate of growth in different age groups of scholars must be carefully
assessed in order to ensure that the intake of " protective foods,"
especially those containing first-class proteins, is sufficient to
maintain optimum growth and positive health.
Other Special Inspections.
In addition to the above, special inspections are also undertaken
in connection with:—
(a) The ascertainment of Handicapped Pupils.
(b) The employment of children.
(c) The engagement of children in special courses of study,
school journeys, etc.
