Ascertainment.
The number of cases dealt with for the first time during the year
1946 was 19, and they were dealt with as under:—
6 placed in Institutions.
3 placed under Guardianship.
7 placed under Statutory Supervision.
1 placed under Friendly Care.
1 referred back to Education Committee.
1 "action pending."
Provision of Institutional Accommodation.
Whilst the difficulty experienced in obtaining institutional
accommodation generally has been relieved by the erection of South
Ockendon Colony, additional facilities are urgentl required for
low grade defectives under 5 years, and also for cases of Spastic
Diplegia.
Guardianship.
There are 37 cases under Guardianship, of whom three are still
evacuated to other areas. During the year, two were transferred
