Deaths.
During the year the number of East Ham civilian residents
dying was 1,232, This figure is equal to a death rate of 13.27
per 1,000 of the Registrar General's estimated population. For
the previous year the rate was 14.09.
Infantile Mortality.
The number of deaths of children under one year of age was
90, equal to an infantile mortality rate of 48 per 1,000 live
births (54 for 1942), the rate of England and Wales being 49 per
1,000 related births.
Neo-Natal Mortality:-
Children dying under the age of one month totalled 44 equal
to a neo-natal mortality rate of 23.5 per 1,000 live births. The
rate for the previous year was 35.4.

Maternal Mortality.

Maternal deaths numbered 5, the rate for 1943 being 2.68 per 1,000 live births and 2.60 per 1,000 live and still births.

Population.
The Registrar General's estimate of the civilian population
