Deaths.
During the year the number of East Ham civilian residents
dying was 1,157. This figure is equal to a death rate of 14.09
per 1,000 of the Registrar General's estimated population. For
the previous year the rate was 16.1
Infantile Mortality.
Tho number of deaths of children under one year of age was
85, equal to an Infantile mortality rate of 54 per 1,000 live
births (45 for 1941) , the rate of England and Wales being 49 per
1,000 live births.
Noo-Natal Mortality.
Children dying under the age of one month totalled 55,equal
to a neomatal mortality rate of 35.4 per 1,000 live births. The
rate for the previous year was 20.5
Maternal Mortality.
Maternal deaths numbered 6, the rate for 1942 being 3.86
per 1,000 live births and 3.69 per 1,000 live and still births.

Population.
The Registrar General's estimate of the civilian population
for 1942 is 89,200. The figure for the year 1941 was 80,130.
