TUBERCULOSIS AND CHEST CLINIC,
Notifications.
The number of primary notifications during the year 1940 was
204 as compared with 217 for 1939. Of the primary notifications of
pulmonary tuberculosis, in 35.24 per cent. tubercle bacilli were
found in the sputum.
Statistical
The total number of notified cases on the register of the
Clinic on 31st December, 1940 was 879 (pulmonary and non-pulmonary
or 7.9 per 1,000 estimated population, as opposed to 974, or 7.67
per 1,000 population in the previous year.

During the year seventeen visits were made to the homes of
patients who were too ill to attend the Clinic.
