to a slight extent only at the expense of the Public Health
Services.
The organisation of Hospital and First Aid Services and
the training of personnel has necessitated much additional
work. Every effort is being made, however, to maintain the
health of the Borough in its entirety and to meet the
personal requirements of its residents in matters of health
which, in the past, has been an outstanding feature of this
department.
The Council will, I hope, appreciate the multitude of
detail involved, from the public health standpoint, in the
planning, preparation and carrying out of three large
schemes of hospital and clinic provision, simultaneously
with routine work and A.R.P.
I wish to express my thanks to the Chairman and
members of the Public Health Committee and to those of
other Committees, for their help and support during a
difficult period. My thanks are also due to my colleagues
and to the members of the Public Health Staff for their1
efficient service and willing co-operation at all times.
I have the honour to be,
Your Obedient Servant,
Medical Officer of Health.
