3. Of the total number of mental defectives known to the Local
Authority : —

Training and Occupation Centre.
The morning session is held from 9.30 to 12 noon, and is for
boys and young men who are taught various forms of handicraft.
These include basketry, wrapped canework, stool-weaving, caneseating,
and rug-making.
The afternoon session is held from 2 to 4 p.m., and is for
young women and girls and junior boys. The older pupils are
engaged in embroidery work, plain sewing, knitting and physical
drill. The juniors are taught personal hygiene and physical
exercises, and they devote much time to musical games and ball
games. They also make small articles which are saleable.
