(b) Notices.
The number of notices served during the year totalled 5,889,
of which 335 were statutory notices. Of the total, 4,638 were
complied with at the end of the year, and the requisitions of many
of the remainder were in process of being complied with. The
ward classification of notices served is as follows:—

(d) Complaints.
During the year 1937 complaints totalling 2,106 were received
and where justified appropriate action taken. Many of the
complainants requested the services of the drain cleaner or rat
catcher.
