Particulars of any unusual or Excessive Mortality during
the Year which has received or required comment.
Deaths from cancer (all forms) shew an appreciable increase
over the previous year, whilst those attributed to diseases of the
circulatory system generally, including heart disease, were
decreased. Male deaths from cancer exceed in larger proportion
female deaths.
Any causes of Sickness or Invalidity which have been
specially noteworthy in the Borough during the year;
and any Conditions of Occupation or Environment
which appear to have had a prejudicial effect on Health
and any evidence, Statistical or otherwise, that unemployment
has exercised any significant influence on the
Health or Physique of children or adults.
There is no evidence that unemployment, conditions of occupation,
or local environment have had any particular effect on
health or physique. Owing, however, to the large increase in
populated areas this side of London, travelling facilities during
the rush hours are not conducive to a lessening of fatigue or to
the general well-being of many residents of the Borough.
Still-Births.
The number of still-birth registered was 58, compared with
64 for the previous year. The rate per 1,000 total (live and still)
births was 28.8, the figure for 1936 being 32.0.
