10. PHYSICAL TRAINING.
Physical training has been continued on similar lines to those
quoted in previous reports, and instruction in swimming has been
conducted as heretofore.
11. PROVISION OF MEALS.
During the year 168,802 meals were provided for children, as
compared with 185,405 in 1935.
The Medical Officers and School Nurses visit the various
feeding centres periodically. On these occasions the quality of
the food and the preparation, distribution and service of the meals
have been satisfactory.
12. SCHOOL BATHS.
There are no baths used at the schools for the bathing of
school children.
13. CO-OPERATION OF PARENTS.
During the year 1936 the number of parents who were present
at the routine medical inspections was 4,237 (4,442 in 1935), that
is, 76.3 per cent. of the cases examined (77.4 per cent. in 1935).
14. CO-OPERATION OF TEACHERS.
The Teachers render most valuable assistance to the School
Medical Service, and the great interest which they exhibit in regard
to all matters affecting the physical and mental condition of the
scholars is extremely stimulating and encouraging to the School
Medical Officers and Nurses.
15. CO-OPERATION OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
OFFICERS.
Many cases have been referred for special examination by the
Attendance Officers on Form 21, and of these cases 22 were medically
examined, reports and advice in each case being sent to the
Secretary of the Education Committee.
