Consultations at Homes of Patients.
During the year 95 visits to patients who were too ill to
attend the Clinic have been made to their own homes
In 69 of these cases the patient's own doctor was present at
the consultation.
This again testifies to the interest and co-operation exhibited
by many of the local practitioners.
Co-operation with Specialised and General Hospitals.
There is a continuance of this co-operation, which has been
outlined in reports of previous years.
The existence of the hospital block at the " Harts Sanatorium
" has curtailed considerably the use previously made of
the Whipps Cross Hospital.
Acknowledgment is made of the help and courtesy received
from the Staffs of the various hospitals in the interests of the
Council's patients.
X-Ray Examinations of the Chest.
The number of these examinations has increased by leaps
and bounds, year by year, as the following figures show:—
1928 1929 1930 1931 1932 1933 1934
29 97 302 352 4S4
Screen 268
Films 265
533
Screen 264
Films 399
663
(The figures include X-ray examinations by screen and film
for the past 5 years.)
The steady increase in the use made of this very valuable
method of investigation cannot be over-emphasised.
The increase, over the already high figure for 1933, of 130
X-ray examinations is noteworthy and inevitable in view of the
fund of information which such form of examination reveals for
the purposes both of diagnosis and treatment.
Whilst these figures show so decided a progressive increase
in numbers (which is likely to continue on the upgrade), it must
be emphasised that no single method of examination is in itself
complete in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
