Operations.

One major operation and many minor ones were undertaken during the year. They were as follows:—

Radical mastoid operation1
Mastoid incisions2
Myringotomy1

Immunisation.
Immunisation against diphtheria was advised in the
scarlet fever wards in the case of all patients under five years of
age, and in all cases which gave a positive Schick test result. 460
immunising doses were given, 160 patients being thus protected.
Infection among Staff.
The following cases occurred:—Diphtheria 4, Scarlet Fever
2, Erysipelas 1, Tonsillitis 12, Influenza 3.
Nurses' Training School.
There were 17 entries for the Final State Fevers examination.
Eleven candidates were successful, or 64.7 per cent. Of the 10
entrants for the Preliminary Nursing examination, 6 were successful,
or 60 per cent.
